Janet Shurtz is a middle school math teacher and cross country coach.  With that being said - we know she is a busy lady!  However; Janet makes the effort to give back by volunteering her time to Ronald McDonald House Charities Wichita in a variety of ways.  We are thankful for her talents, wisdom, and her dedication to serving the mission.  We asked Janet a few questions about her volunteer experience at RMHC Wichita:

How do you volunteer with RMHC Wichita:

I am a RMHC Board Member.  I am the chairperson of the Strategic Planning Committee and serve on the Governance and Executive Committees.  I also volunteer at the annual golf tournament.

How long have you been volunteering with Ronald McDonald House Charities Wichita?
5 years

What motivates you to volunteer for RMHC Wichita?

Because of my experience both personally and professionally (perviously worked in health care administration for 17 years) within the medical community, I was thrilled when the opportunity to become a RMHC Board Member was presented to me.  I know how important it is to families who are far away from home and have a sick or injured child in the hospital to be able to spend as much time as possible with that child during their stay.

What is the most rewarding thing that has happened to you while volunteering?

Having the opportunity to work with Board Members and staff who have passion to serve families in need, and hearing the stories of families who are grateful for the support that RMHC Wichita is able to provide them.

What do you want to say to those who might be interested in volunteering for Ronald McDonald House Charities Wichita?
